2003-07-27 - 3:11 a.m. "What do you mean you don't know where she is? Aren't you two still friends?" "No, we're simply roommates at this point. Shortly after you left 'Powerfly' she hooked up with your replacement, Cyrus. He's a slime ball drug dealer with not even half the musical talent you had. But he worked cheap and Tessa couldn't afford anyone with real talent like you had." "Flattery will get you many places, but it's not helping the situation at hand." I rubbed her knee gently, a gesture both affectionate and reassuring. "Cyrus is into some pretty bad shit and I think he got Mary involved in it too. About a week ago she said she was coming to visit you and that was the last I'd seen of her. She left the number here on her desk and I called yesterday pretending to be her. When Martin didn't seem to think it was strange for 'her' to be calling or visiting again, I figured something was up." "So you hopped on you bike and drove down here. You met me at work and I acted like I still expected Mary to come visit me. I told Natalie, who wants to beat Mary's ass, that she was coming to visit. Now I find out that Mary is missing, presumed in some kind of trouble, and you most likely want me to help in some way. Am I correct?" "Before I answer that question can we go get something to eat? It was a long ride this morning and I haven't eaten much all day." "Yeah, we can go visit Natalie at work; since she doesn't hate you. Grab your bag and come in for a minute, I've got to clean up the kitchen." She hopped the porch's railing and landed on the walkway. She walked over to her bike and grabbed a backpack and a small duffel that were strapped to the seat. Throwing her backpack over her shoulder, she sauntered up the stairs and into the living room. She dropped her stuff on the couch and followed me into the kitchen. I quickly cleaned out the frying pan and the bowls Natalie and I had used. Just as I was putting everything away the phone rang. "Hello hello, Natalie, Seven, or Martin?" I always answer the phone like that, cuts to the chase. "Seven, its Nikki." "Nikki, how did you get my number?" "Aunt Susan works with Martin and she had his number in her date book. And you told me that he lived with you and Natalie, so I assumed that the number would reach you. "Nice job, so what's up?" Amy was staring at me, getting somewhat impatient. "I was hoping that we could get together tonight and do something. Wander, talk, rent a movie or something. There was hope in her voice, that struck a chord with me. "A friend of mine stopped in from Redstone and we were about to head up to Platinum to get something to eat, want to meet us there in about 20 minutes?" Amy kind of sighed, but I ignored her. "Yeah, that would be great. I'll see you there." She hung up before I could say goodbye; but that's cool, I do it sometimes myself. "Can't be a girlfriend if you questioned how she got the number. So care to share? "A girl that gives me a good feeling. Hopefully something will come of it, but one never knows."
