Natalie and Martin got home about midnight and went straight up to their room. Martin looked bad, but nothing he couldn't recover from. After a few minutes I heard the shower come on and Natalie came down the stairs and joined us in the living room. I had been drawing and Amy had been reading, we both set our books down and looked at her.

Natalie sighed heavily and spoke, "He's got three bruised ribs, the right side of his face is swollen, and his right hand is fractured in two places. His ribs should heal in a few weeks and the swelling should be gone by morning. His hand is another story all together.
As we were leaving the hospital Ron and Steve were carrying Aaron in. When Aaron saw me and Martin leaving he popped back up and took a swing at Martin. Stupid boy that his is, Martin tried to block it, but didn't get his arm up in time and took most of the blow on the top of his hand. Security tackled Aaron and they strapped him to a gurney. I walked Martin back into the Emergency Room and they looked at his hand right away. Because it was so fresh they couldn't cast it for some reason. So he has to go back tomorrow and get that done.
Sheriff Sikes stopped in, too. He said he spoke to you about what happened. When he saw Aaron strapped to the gurney he smiled a little. He grabbed Aaron's jaw and forced him to look at him so he could read him his rights. So I guess Aaron is under arrest for assault or something."

"You think the sheriff will come for you if Aaron says anything?" Amy asked me.

"I don't think so. He attacked me and I defended myself. I didn't really do anything to him until the end. Besides I have two witnesses on my side, what does he have? Ron and Steve are just a couple of potheads that have been following Aaron's parade of stupidity since high school, they have no credibility." I shook my head as I spoke.

"Wait, what happened here?" Natalie grabbed my shoulder.

"After Sikes was here Aaron came by looking for Martin, most likely to finish the job he had started at the bar. When I told him Martin wasn't here he grabbed me and dragged me outside. We circled each other and I kept trying to just knock him down. He kept going on about how no one stops him from getting what he wants, apparently he wanted you and Martin got in his way.
Amy helped me with him until Steve grabbed Nikki and held a knife to her throat. The girls took care of both of them while I was still trying to deal with Aaron. He did mention Cyrus, who Amy thinks has gotten Mary in some kind of trouble, but more on that later. In the end he got a hold of me and I headbutt him a few times, probably broke his nose. When he let go of me I started to fall back, but I used that to my advantage and kneed him in the jaw.
It pretty much knocked him unconscious from what I could tell. Messed up my head a little with the headbutts, but I'm more or less fine now. Ron and Steve loaded him in their car and took off. Shortly after Nikki took off, too. Her taking off affected me more than the fight did.

"So your two witnesses are a girl from out of town who arrived today and a girl that the whole town seems to be leary of, great. And you think Ron and Steve have no credibility.

Just then the water in the shower upstairs stopped. Natalie looked up at the ceiling then went upstairs to help Martin. Amy and I went back to what we were doing before. Natalie helped Martin down the stairs, trying not to jar his ribs, and into a chair. He picked up the book he had been reading for what seems like weeks now and Natalie went into the kitchen. We all sat in silence for a while, the occasional scream for help coming from the kitchen, but otherwise quiet. It felt odd for it to be this quiet after what had happened. As I returned from my recent venture into the mess that the kitchen was becoming. The phone rang.

I picked it up as I walked by, "Hello?" It was late and I didn't feel the need for my typical answer.

"Seven?"

"Yes, who is this?" I didn't recognize the voice, but it sounded pained.

"It's me, Mary. I need your hel--" Her voice was cut off and the phone hung up on me.

"Who was it?"

"Mary, it was Mary. She said she needed help but was cut off then the phone hung up." My face paled as I spoke, I could actually feel the blood draining away.
