"Hey, I was wondering when you would call. Yeah, he's right here." Nikki handed me her phone without telling me who it was.
"Hello?" "Seven, I'm at my apartment. Tessa was here when I got here so I couldn't call right away. She was arrested for assault about two months ago, but they let her out with time served and some community service hours. I had to wait until she left to call you." "She didn't mention anything about what's been going on in town?" "Like I said she's been locked up for a little while, she had no idea what's going on anywhere. She asked me if I had seen Parker though, she wanted to talk to him. Any luck with that?" "We didn't find him, but he gave his super a letter to give me. It's got a lot of useful information. Listen we're in front of that big church on Coral Street, why don't you meet us here and we'll talk about what we've learned." "Sounds like a plan. I'll be there in about twenty minutes; I need to get gas." "Who was that and why are they meeting us here?" Steph asked, I could tell she was nervous about it. Nikki spoke up before I could think of a reply. "That was Amy, she's a friend of Seven's. She came to Shawston to visit him and look for their friend Mary who's gone missing. It turns out that Mary has fallen in with this cult and we're more or less here to get her back and stop this cult." "Was Amy in 'Powerfly' with you?" "Yeah, she was our keyboard player. I started running my hands over my scars after I spoke because they itched; that's a new reaction for me. "Okay, yeah, I know Amy. She was the one who introduced me to the other bands in the area. "Sounds like Amy, always making friends." We sat on the church steps shooting the shit for about a half an hour before Amy finally arrived. She had decided to take a quick shower and change before meeting us. "I've only been gone for three days and this town goes to shit. What the hell is that all about?" Amy sat down next to us on the steps. "The town was always going to shit; you were just blinded by Cyrus and whatever his cult is doing. You had to leave to break his hold over you." "Cyrus never had any hold on me, no one has ever had a hold on me." Steph and Amy began arguing like they had been friends forever. "I obviously did or you wouldn't have come to see me when you went looking for Mary." "Don't give yourself so much credit there boy. I came to see you because Mary said she was going to see you when she left. And that turned out to be a lie and God knows what happened to her after that." "We're going to find Mary. We're going to stop Cyrus and his little cult. We're going to try to make things right in this town, but first I think we should get inside somewhere it's going to get cold when the sun goes down." "We can go back to my apartment. There's enough room for everyone and I think Tessa said something about not being back until tomorrow." We all agreed to meet back at Amy's apartment in an hour. Steph, Nikki, and I went back to Steph's to gather some of Steph's things. Then we piled back into Nikki's car and headed over to Amy's. I noticed crowds waiting outside buildings with the cross and wing markings on the side; this could not be a good sign.
