"It's a possibility that your parents bound some of your chakras from birth so that you wouldn't manifest any power until a certain point."

"Is that even possible? To hinder someone like that has to go against some council law."

"It is, but Seven's parents disappeared for several years, having no contact with the Council or its emisaries, there is no telling what they did to the children."

Suddenly I felt like I wasn't even part of the conversation anymore; it was just the three of them talking about me like I wasn't even there or worse like I was dead. I was at the end of the couch closest to the kitchen and everyone else was more towards the living room; so I just slipped away while they were debating whether or not I actually had magical powers or whatever.

I grabbed my shoes as I went into the kitchen and put together something to eat. They didn't seem to notice that I wasn't there so I went outside. I carried my bowl carefully up to the roof and sat watching the horizon. It was quiet and peaceful up here; the only sound was the occasional flock of birds flying overhead.

I still had no idea where we were or how far from Redstone we were. This little truck stop in the middle of nowhere was the perfect retreat for someone who just wanted to get away from everything and everyone. I started thinking about everything they had told me while I was inside; about my parents, about this Council, about me. I just couldn't get over the fact that these people knew more about my parents than I did.

My reverie was broken by footstep on the gravel of the roof. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to disturb you."

I turned around quickly and standing there was a man in what looked like a military uniform except it was solid black and had no markings for what branch of service it might be. He stood there, broad shoulders, hands held behind his back, and feet about shoulder width apart, not moving.

"Is there something I can do for you?" I stood and backed up a little.

"Come on now Samual, you honestly mean you don't recognize me?" He dropped his arms to his sides and leaned against the railing for the stairs.

"First of all, I'm not Samual. Second, I have no idea who you are." I pulled up my sleeves a little, it was a nervous gesture.

"Ah yes, now I see it, you're too young to be Samual. That would make you Seven, then. A pleasure to meet you dear boy, I am Doctor Jude Slaykin, most people just call me Doc." He moved towards me and extended his right hand.

I reached out and shook his hand and he stepped back again. "Yeah, I'm Seven Judeca, how do you know my father?"

"And how is that darling sister of yours? Is she still seeing that Rollins boy?" He began walking in circles around the roof, touching buttons on what looked like a computer on his right forearm.

"Natalie and Martin are still together and they're doing fine. Now tell me how you know my dad." I reached out to grab his shoulder but he suddenly wasn't there.

"I suppose my even revealing myself to you has already broken enough of their rules. My dear boy what was your mother's maiden name?" He appeared behind me.

"Phillips. Her name was Andrea Phillips Judeca. What does this have to do with anything?" I turned to face him.

"They went that far with it; I'm impressed. Look at this picture, tell me who you see in it." He handed me an old photograph.

I studied the picture for a moment. "Those are my parents, my sister and myself as children, my grandmother, and... a younger you? What is this who are you?"
